The Pomegranate, the Petition, and the Padre
Hugely touched by those of you who said yesterday that you'd sign the petition to the Bishop to not move our Padre, wish you could. So, in extra, Ermelinda with the over 500 signatures we've got so far, quite good for a town of around 2000, and wholly unexpected... people ringing her up to ask how they can sign, stopping us in the street - many of them folk who never go to church.
Turns out there are a few of the more religious folk who've complained to the Bishop about him - that he hangs out in bars, wears shorts, goes to the gym, and basically, doesn't act like they think a priest should, and doesn't give them the favoured treatment they feel they deserve, and treats the poor and those on the fringes the same way he treats them.
Exactly what they said about Jesus.
The Bishop has told Ermelinda he won't go back on his decision, but we just want said Bishop to know that most of Mourão loves him, over 500 versus maybe 5 (though seems they are the ones that matter).
Absolutely amazing today that some rain fell, not much, but I had to record it, feels like favour on our petition. And where better than on the pomegranate, now producing fruit, that the Padre gave us when we moved out of his flat?
Gratefuls:
- all these Mouranenses who want to stand up for their Padre
- the Padre, so grateful for him
- sprinkles from heaven
