Harvest already!

Where is the year going?  Early this morning the sound of heavy machinery just behind the back gate set the dogs off. By lunchtime the winter wheat was safely gathered in. Normally we would then go out and play in the stubble - but the extreme hot weather prevents that - the temperature in the shade this afternoon was 38C ! Even now - 11.20pm - the temperature here indoors is still 30. The dogs spend all day flat out on the hard floor - cooler than carpet or dog beds - going out just for the briefest of 'comfort breaks'.
