Col du Bonhomme

Couldn't resist this memento being today's blip, its like being out on the trail with five old friends and five soon to be friends. 

It's turned very very warm here and today was, frankly, tough going. I got us started earlier to do the first climb of the day in the shade, but from mid morning coffee at La Balme we were in the brunt of the sun all day. Its was eleven happy trekkers that reached Chapieux, shade and cold beer.

The trail is exceptionally busy this year, I've never seen it so busy even in the height of August, so far hoteliers, guardians and other guides all concur, but we've no real idea why. Today's extra is the high snow Bank up to the Col and totally doesn't show just how many people we saw, it must have been hundreds.
