Drifting By

A day of thunder and the attendant thunderplumps.  Got the bus from Kirkwall to Hamnavoe and went to visit my Mum.  I then caught the mid-day boat to Hoy for a meeting at the Hoy Kirk.

Met a man on the Hoy Pier who said that Jean Pierre Melville was quite irascible to work with.  Bit of a conversation stopper really.

Arrived at Creel HQ and someone had delivered two samples (unlabelled).  It might be Glen Grant.  Glen can be quite a stickler himself.  He eschews modern technology – still a Quink ink man – and he waxes lyrical (i.e. drones on) about the Linear B writing of the Mycenaean Greece.  Sometimes I have to take notes, usually tenners.  Oh and it’s Shopping Week and August fast approaches.
