Day 3 Glasgow Ardrossan 67 km

We left A slightly drizzly, and very breezy Glasgow behind. We cycled along the national route 7, which is mainly along rivers, and a superb old railway to Kilbirnie. The sun came out, but the wind became really gusty. There was a diversion, which was signposted quite badly for cyclists, so we ended up on a very muddy construction site! Unfortunately, at that moment my all time favorite cycling jacket jumped off the bike, and got completely jammed in the chain, and was completely full of slimy black mud. Anyway, these things happen, and at least I didn’t fall off!
Well, then we cycled a way up the Ayrshire coast, to Ardrossan. We had to wait quite a while, as only one boat was sailing. The wind had calmed a bit, and by 19.15 we were in a lovely B&B at Brodick on the Isle of Arran. We had a Chinese takeaway sat on the promenade, enjoying the sunset over Goatfell. Finishing off the eve with a whisky and live folk music at the Crofters.
67km and 450m ascent, max speed 43 kmph.
