Hard Day's Night
A full day after arriving from Strasbourg/Basel yesterday! Started with birthday greetings to Dd, guiding her to the card and pressie hidden in her luggage, still in Strasburg with her. Then, into house-preparation mode for guests arriving tonight, laundry done, room made up, outside spaces swept and polished, annual ant repellent visit done by our professional contractors with the usual spraying of outside areas, a long coaching call on B5-PLUS with a former IESE classmate and now coach, Katie, shopping for food and then preparing and plating breakfast for three days (a new approach, including a wonderful fruit salad bowl that is so inviting to dip into), then the actual welcome routine in-house, followed by the tour of the area and then, unusually, on first acquaintance, dinner with them at their invitation and insistence. Really lovely people, German, and so engaging, interesting and appreciative. We get insights into so many other lives and worlds. A genuine privilege which makes it all very rewarding and worth more than the effort of the making of the odd bed or two.
I’ve left them now to make their own way home, unpack and settle in. My attention turns to the political situations in UK and Spain, both screwed up in their respective ways.
