Loch Maree

Another backblip and apologies for another collage but I was trying to capture the day.
We took the kayaks to Loch Maree with a hope of getting to Isle Maree but unsure as it would be considerably further than any previous paddle.
Conditions were good and when we got to the shelter of the islands paddling was easy with time to rest. we landed on one beach for a break and snack (but didn't walk across the island to the lochan, we'll try to do that another time). Then to the shingly beach on Isle Maree and lunch before an explore of the small island.
It's been a holy site for a long time and there was a chapel and holy well (now filled in after it dried up), some old graves and some more recent ones of the families who lived on the roadless side of the loch. Various legends are associated with the island and the fallen-down money tree had a coin inserted by Queen Victoria (the 1st according to one report).
The other islands are mainly Scots Pine but this one has oak, holly and other varieites and a very pale version of cow wheat.
Surprisingly we didn't have it to ourselves as 3 other kayakers arrived  before we left.
It seemed a long way back and it was a bit choppier but we'd made it and done over 7 miles.
Then a trip to Kinlohewe for tea and scones and a visit to Victoria Falls on our way "home".
P.S. The other kayak is Slioch, the mountain hidden in clouds above the loch
