The road to the lake
My father-in-law relishes the role of backwoodsman. He arrived in Canada from Scandinavia in the early 1950s, and found work as a lumberjack out in Prince George, BC. There was little that a strong work ethic and stubbornness would not get you back then: both of these he has in buckets.
Mrs Ottawacker grew up in the self-styled near North, and apart from a predilection for Conservatism and Conservatives, I can see why she still loves it. Its appeal is a bit less for me, but Ottawacker Jr. loves our all-too-infrequent trips up here, and that makes me very happy.
Watching him swim and ride his bike on the back section is a reminder that life can still be good.
