Clematis disasters

Just to compare with the beautiful purple one posted by Blipper Inukshuckne recently.

Three have gone mouldy and one at the top of the garden is OK.so far.
I don't know if I've overwatered them or if the neighbours are sneaking weedkiller on them!!!!

I'm going to cut them right back and keep a beady eye on them !!!
