New Year - plastered!
Redecorating the bathroom, which had severe damp problems that are now mostly resolved, causing the paint to flake and craze, I realised that the plaster was loose in one corner and had to remove it. Today, full of New Year spirit, I replastered. Here are before and after photos. I'm not good at plastering. You manage a good sweep of the float, but there's a little bit just there... so you have another go, and the whole thing looks like a dog's dinner. And you wish you'd left it alone, and maybe added a little polyfilla to that little bit when it was dry, which would be cheating and wouldn't look as good as it would if you got it right in the first place. It is an art. Watch a good plasterer at work, and it is a joy and a wonder, and when you run your hand over the ice-rink smooth surface when it's dry, you wish you could do likewise.
Never mind. It's only in the corner, and most people won't notice the imperfections.
