Combined brainpower

Team-based French scrabble. The conversation group was a bit shambolic today. I was proud of my successful efforts to recruit some more native or near-native French speakers, and proportionately disappointed when 20 minutes after the scheduled start time, none of them had shown up despite my just having had lunch with three of them. So I did my best with my ten participants, of whom just one was French. Eight people opted for scrabble, and I made a French conversation group with me and two Danes. 

Happily Lucile showed up shortly after we'd got started, so I added her to my group for better balance. But what to do with I, G, and the other I when they showed up half an hour late? The scrabble group were still playing, no point putting three francophones in a group on their own, so I added them to my group, and given that most of the French people had come to speak English, switched the language to English.

Oh well. It was convivial enough anyway, and a sheer pleasure being in an air-conditioned environment. External temperature 34C, humidity about 70%. Even hotter forecast for tomorrow.
