So this happened.........

We went to Birmingham Vineyard Church this morning as usual.
The topics recently in the talks have been thought provoking.
A series on "Faith and............"
Last week it was "Faith and Race." As it is a diverse mix who meet each week, it was very topical.
Today it just so happened to be "Faith and Politics" !
Given that the new Prime Minister for the UK will be revealed on Tuesday, alongside the ongoing developments with Iran in the Straits of Hormuz, not to mention the current topic of the 4 Democratic women Senators in the States, it has generated  a lot of discussion!
Indeed this morning at the end of the talk we got into smaller groups to voice which particular bits had concerned us the most.
Our group contained a young Indian lady in her 20's, a Nigerian young man worried about his own land, a Belgian, a young man from Northern Ireland, (deeply concerned as you could imagine!), and a French lady of African origins.
Before the service began I was talking to a lovely lady from Ghana (originally) who had come in a beautiful multicoloured dress which reflected her ethnic roots.  These people had variously come over to work and study or had been born here.
At the end they each offered a prayer for the leaders of this country and others.
Whatever beliefs you may hold, we all agreed that Truth and Justice come high on the agenda.
This afternoon around teatime, I could hear some very excited young boys outside across the road. I looked out of the window and saw them with their parents. (Three sets of parents and 7 boys between them).
The pink stretch limo stopped by the school gates. The driver got out wearing a head set and a smart black suit.
Eventually the boys all got in, leaving the parents standing on the pavement, or taking photos of their offspring through the open doors.
I wondered where the driver, sorry, probably should say chauffeur (!) was taking them, and if he would survive the noise. ;-)
It transpired that he just took them for a short 15 minute tour around the neighbourhood, bringing them back to the school gates where they  had photos taken once more. They were obviously Year 6 leavers, who will be off to their new schools in September.
As I think I've said earlier in a different blip, it is a relatively recent thing in the past few years. An American import.
I think the school must have requested parents not to bring stretch limos to come to the school gates on the last day as there are so many cars parked, including those belonging to those of some residents, that it is often difficult to negotiate before and after school.
So begins a week which will see a change of  Prime Minister, and the beginning of more rhetoric, Government comings and goings, and our hopes that one day order will be restored............
