Person Power

I have mentioned before that our Pilates studio is right next to a bakery. A very good bakery run by a delightful French couple. (The only problem is that it is never open when I am there.)This morning we walked out of class and this little vehicle was parked in front. It is so perfectly suited to its job, doesn't use much fuel, and is very cute. The only thing that would make it cuter is if one or the other of the darling couple were behind the wheel! We think it might have a motor assist, but it definitely has pedals to supply the main power.

We went to Costco today and came home, as usual, with five times more food than we needed, but all the more reason to have a party, which is what a lot of people in there were planning to do on this beautiful Friday. At least not one single thing was encased in hard plastic.

We also came home with a Vitamix...a super blender capable of blending up smoothies in seconds. I have thought about getting one numerous times and never done it because I just couldn't think about paying  $400 dollars for one, but today they were still not not cheap, only considerably cheaper, but they had a red one. How could I say no to that?

We'll see if I can make one of the 'green' veggie drinks so popular now...and If I do,  if I ever drink a second one. Pineapple/kale/celery smoothie anyone?

We were awakened this morning at 4am by the familiar sound of beeping trucks. Someone has been building a house behind us in very slow stages ever since we moved here. I'm sure the process was not helped by the fact that PG&E put up not just one, but four power poles with huge unsightly transformers on top of them right in front of where the house would have gone.

The site of the house was moved up the street closer to us, and although we can't see it at all except from our field, we can certainly hear it. Once I had given up the attempt at sleeping and gotten myself dressed, I ventured up to the field to get a shot of the dance of the cement trucks (I counted four in the picture which I have put in extras.) I imagine the decision to start before dawn probably was dictated by the temperature and the necessity to get it all done at once. They were finished by 1pm and it was cooler today, so they probably could have started at a more civilized hour. We sincerely hope, won't have any need to come back....
