Silage making

The morning showers merged into constant rain this afternoon but it didn't stop the farmers and their silage making.  This clamp is full and the tractors are compacting it and trying to get rid of any air pockets in it.  Oxygen would allow the wrong bacteria to grow and cause it to rot rather than ferment.

I always find it terrifying watching the tractors as they have to drive so close to the edges and the horrendous drop, and they lean over at such precipitous angles!  It's a skilled job!

Went and helped H today after all!  Nothing heavy, just making up feeds and bringing the ponies in, and then helping her with her computer.  I'm not going to risk making my back worse but I do miss her and the animals when I don't go.
