Educated fleas
The following is the comments of real moth expert Roy Leverton when I contacted him fretting about the location of the eggs laid by the mating pair depicted.
Extras Gold Spot, Latticed Heath and rarity Shaded Pug.
"Garden Tiger eggs are cream when first laid, darkening within a few days if they are fertile, then changing colour again when hatching is imminent.
Garden Tiger caterpillars are not communal, even when small, yet the female lays her eggs in large batches. You'd think a million years of evolution would have solved that problem. Actually it has. The caterpillars disperse shortly after hatching, before they begin to feed. As with many hairy larvae, wind is the dispersal agent. The extra height from being on a wall should assist in this process. No need for you to do anything. "
