Fishing for golf balls......

An interesting day today with my nephew still here!  Had a much quieter day than the past 2 days with just a bit of shopping to do this morning, and then it was a fairly relaxed afternoon watching the Open Golf on TV - hoping he'd pick up some tips for his golf career!

BUT! he then decided to hit the garden with a putter and a ball to get some extra practice in and thought the hole for the rotary line in the lawn would make for a good hole to practice on - thinking the ball would be just too big to fit down it fully... he was wrong!! Just how do you retrieve a golf ball from a deep rotary line hole?!! It took us nearly 2 hours in the end of trying various,desperate measures - we even tried using the hoover at one point to see if the suction power would help (it didn't!).  Happy to report though that in the end a combination of some blue-tac attached to a broom handle, with double sided sticky tape bundled on top managed to lift the ball out of the hole..... which has now been covered with a piece of slate to hopefully prevent future golfing episodes!!!

A fun way to spend an afternoon!! Think the butterflies were laughing at us!!!
