Robins are always content to get close to human company. I have no illusions that they are friendly; I just think they get added benefits from being close to our world. When we are digging the soil the robins can get worms and insects from the turned soil if they hang about close to the spade.

The robins here have definitely learnt how to fly up to and land briefly on the sunflower feeders, so that they can get food from them. Until recently they were described as being unable to use the bird feeders.  But now with a lot of flapping of wings to keep them airborne, and close to the seeds, they are learning to get more food. Their feet aren't ideally suited to perching or gripping like many of the other small garden birds.
