Shakespeare at Stratford-upon-Avon

I had a full on visit to the Shakespeare Birthplace and New House at Stratford. It was wonderful and despite coming from the West Midlands I had never visited it all .
Extracts from the plays were being performed here but the house where he was born was brought to life by costumed guides in each room .
The New Place which he bought for his family and was the second most important house in Stratford at the time no longer stands but there are fabulous sculptures representing some of his most famous plays, a blasted tree and the world amongst many others . The gardens were beautifully kept and very extensive with a knot garden as well .
Inside the house ‘next door ‘ we saw his family represented in amazing paper costumes.
Last night my friend played the new Kenneth Branagh film ‘All is True ‘ so we were really immersed in the story of his family life .
My description here can’t do justice to what we saw - the ticket is also for the other places associated with Shakespeare including Mary Arden’s Farm and his daughters home so as it’s only valid for a year, I need to plan another visit !
To complete the visit we ate at The Fourteas themed Cafe which was great fun and did a much needed proper cup of tea !!
