Le Grand Tour de Bretagne - Jour 8
Forêt de Huelgoat, Brittany
A windy day of sunny intervals, and temperatures reaching 25 degrees, though it felt much hotter in the sun.
And a rest day. A morning walk through the forest, amongst strange granite formations, including Le Ménage de la Vierge (the virgin’s kitchen utensils!), and Le Champignon (the mushroom); a landscape that has inspired many traditional tales and legends. Deep in the forest, we came across a harp player, surrounded by a host of dancing Damselflies, quite a magical moment.
Then an afternoon to relax and read, catch up on the washing and do some van maintenance, before heading back to the town for the evening for Huelgoat’s Bal des Pompiers. A day earlier than normal, the local firemen were celebrating Bastille Day with an evening of food and drink, live music and the customary fireworks. (The photos in my collage were taken early on in the evening, things got a lot livelier later, with the open air disco going on until 2am, I could hear it from the campsite!
(Eighth backblip, getting further and further behind, it’s now day 12. Thank you for your continuing kind words, stars and hearts.)
