HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We are poised to drink a toast to the new year.
For me, I am personally happy in our new home
I am grateful for my wonderful family
and my friends old and new.
I have a wonderful husband who has soldiered on through countless phone calls, paid all the bills and kept me from falling apart during our move
I am grateful for my Blipfoto readers who have opened my world and offered their support from afar.
I am also sad. Sad for the state of our country.
Sad for the meanness that seems to have permeated our political system.
Sad for the way people all over the world must see us.
Sad for the children who have died at the hands of a madman wielding a gun
Sad for the families working to survive in a crippling economy
Sad for the environment, the endangered species and the melting polar ice cap
Sad for the children with asthma and their parents who can't get decent health care for them.
I hope that the new year will bring at least a move toward a resolution of these problems, a move toward reconciliation and compromise.

I wish every one of my friends who read this a happy, healthy and peaceful new year. We will drink to our friends old and new (probably way before it is actually the new year). May 2013 bring us all peace and joy!!
