New Year Ice Bench

We wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year!

This is a bench of ice to mark the New Year, outside the new Spoleto's restaurant (the temperature barely rose above freezing today). Long a downtown fixture, Spoleto's recently moved a block this side of the bridge which you see reflected (on the far side is the heart of downtown). The winding line is a sort of sculpture, newly installed on the bridge; it depicts the meandering of the nearby Connecticut River as it winds through our Pioneer Valley.

The interior of the restaurant is faintly visible, with a few colorful holiday lights-it was just after 4 pm and dusk was beginning to fall.

The bench was attracting quite a number of smart-phone photographers, and I commented, "All we need is someone to sit on it." So a young lady asked her friend to take seat, and we both snapped away. Unfortunately I didn't get her name.
