Morian Hall of Paleontology

Thursday
This morning Roger and I went for a walk along the Buffalo Bayou, while Jen and Jason were doing some grocery shopping. The Buffalo Bayou passes quite close to where Jen and Jason live and runs through the center of downtown Houston. Parts of the Bayou are in the midst of a multi-million dollar restoration and development program, restoring it to a more natural state and improving the network of multi-purpose paths along its length. After lunch, Jen took us to see the recently opened Morian Hall of Paleontology at the Museum of Natural Science. It was an amazing display of fossils, trilobites and dinosaur skeletons. Many of the predators and prey in this new paleontology hall are depicted in action - chasing, eating and escaping as they struggle for life. My blip, for example shows the Plioplatecarpus, a Mosasaur from the late Cretaceous period, pursuing the Toxochelys, clam-crunching turtle. In the evening, Jason had prepared us a delicious dinner, and we opened our Christmas presents.
