Island Queen, Tayinloan

20C with some cloud but mostly sunny sunshine. Moderate ESE/SSE/SE breeze.

Apothecary7's day off.

We decided to take my little car for an outing today so we drove up the West road to Tayinloan and walked along the beach to visit the wreck of the Island Queen. As we started off along the beach the ferry (MV Loch Ranza) was just arriving on the short crossing from Gigha. The waiting area was full with cars waiting to go onboard and there were quite a lot of people crossing as foot passengers. There was a good covering of white sand on the beach for walking.

We walked along the beach to see the wreck of the Island Queen, then carried on walking along the beach towards the bay at Point Sands holiday (caravan) park. The view across Gigha to Jura was great today, with the hills very clear and the rock on the Jura hills clearly visible despite the haze.

As we wandered back to Tayinloan the ferry was just coming in from Gigha again and there were more cars and foot passengers waiting. Gigha must have been busy today !

We went for lunch at Glenbarr. The outside tables had bookings, so we had lunch in the hothouse. It lived up to its name and we got hot even though we managed to pick the table nearest the open double doors at the back where there was a breeze from time to time. Fergus went under the table where it was shady.
