Hagbards Galge
A wet and windy day to end the year but some places are great in any weather - this is a detail of a standing stone with what is believed to be a carved sun symbol. The stone is one of four (weighing 4 tons each) called Hagbards Galge (gallow) from the Bronze Age near Falkenberg in Sweden. The site is associated with the Old Norse legend of Hagbard and Signe - Hagbard, a Norwegian prince was said to be hanged from a beam between two of the stones.
