Hard to handle?

As my father's nurses seem constantly to forget his eyeglasses, I wrote a polite message about it on to his mirrow.

Joyful moments though, as my Step-mom last week had asked the superior of the ward to come and check how the nurses take care for my father - or do not take care... And what kind of a situation now was.

The superior had found (a couple of days ago) even more problems in the nursing that we did, so it was good to check this out. Again. It seems that there is problems time after time - always if we do not take care...

Nursing in geriatric wards overall has been a subject in Finnish media recently. Efficiency and nursing of slow bad conditioned elderly people is not good business. And the amount of memory illnesses and elderly people is growing - on the other hand it seems that know how is decreasing. Or what is the reason?

I bet we all are hard to handle???

Anyway as my Step-mom had traveled to the country now, so I went to see dad instead. And what I found today my father, who had taken out of his bed to the living room. He had clean clothes and he smelled normal and clean. Beard was shaved. Eyeglasses missing, so I brought them to him (at 5.30pm), as without them he mainly sees nothing as sharp.

As I came, nurses tried to move my father to his own room, but he refused to rise from the chair. He can not talk anymore, but he can show and act, and the message was clear, wanted to stay in the living room. Not stupid, even if he has Alzheimer's...

After I had sliced many many strawberries for my father, we watched some photos and I chatted to him.

After leaving the wars I called my Step-mom and how happy she was about my visit. And that dad was up with others!!

My brother is going to visit there tomorrow.
Have to tell him too about the last acts :)
