It’s a euphonium
I sat at the Elvet Bridge/Saddler Street junction with a big crowd and watched the banners, brass bands and marchers go by at the Durham Miners’ Gala this morning ...
It’s the done thing for each brass band to stop at the junction and play a song for the crowd. We were entertained by brass bands from the old coalfields and beyond playing a huge variety of music ranging from Gresford, the miner’s hymn to ‘Sweet Caroline’. The crowd sang and danced and cheered each band in turn. It was a life affirming few hours ...
And then to bump into and chat to photographer par excellence, photojournalist and top blipper, Adrian at Higher Ground’s First Anniversary Garden Party ...
What a day!
Hope you’re well. Have a great rest of the weekend ...
