We decided to have a fairly lazy day today but I fancied a bit of a walk first. We agreed to meet in the harbour for a frappé late morning after W took the usual route down the 350+ steps of the Kali Strata, while I took the much longer route up through the old town but then down by the 'new' road. The road was built around 30 years ago financed by the European Union and has been a real lifeline to the island as it has allowed larger vehicles to access the island outside of the harbour opening up small scale farming and tourism; the old road wasn't passable by anything larger than a small car. And whilst it's longer, it's a gentle downhill walk with spectacular views across the harbour (to the left of the shot) and Harani Bay (centre), the traditional boat building area.

The cafe where we met up is at the head of the harbour and having spent the rest of the day on our patio reading, we'll walk down there again this evening for our drinks and meal.
