Lunch treat

Had lunch with friends today at London’s oldest restaurant, the rather wonderful Rules in Covent Garden. Opened in 1798, it used to be a regular haunt of King Edward VII and his mistress Lillie Langtry, and also of writers such as Graham Greene and Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman.

It is now a favoured location for film crews, featured in the television series Downton Abbey and the Bond film Skyfall.

It’s been a while since I was last there, and it never disappoints, always a wonderful treat for a delicious meal.
