The Church Cottage Museum, Broughton.

Broughton Church of England Primary School is voluntary-aided and next to St John's Church. It was founded in 1590 and is the oldest primary school in the UK. The Church Cottage museum can be found in its grounds. The restored cottage tells the story of its life as a domestic dwelling in the Tudor and Victoria periods, its life as an inn and as a school room.
In a restoration supervised by architects and engineers, with a fine attention to authenticity and simplicity, and advised by local historian Paul Cross, you can see how ordinary people - you and I - lived 400 years ago.
