sizzling sempervivum

Another hot and sticky day in Essex! The water butt has run dry again so back to using the hosepipe tonight to give the plants a good soak.

The sempervivum is enjoying the heat though  and this is the first time I've seen it flowering! And I was considering getting rid of it earlier in the year!

Lovely lunch at a local cafe with my parents today - always a bonus when you don't have to do washing up back at home! Visited the local library too in the week that the great news came through that Essex County Council had a U-turn on their decision to shut a number of libraries across the county - very thankful they listened to the thousands of us protesting against their initial decision!
