Out Of Luck
This is above the entrance gate to the West Desert Trails. It once belonged to the state as Trust Land but was sold several years ago to the Freeport McMoRan copper mine. The mine used the land to install something called mitigating wells to help keep our ground water clean because their crap not only messes with the air (when they screw up) but settles into the ground. Nevertheless, the mine still allows the public to use the trails for hiking and other sports like dirt biking (in designated areas.). You have to get a permit and they send you a map the off-limits trails. I don't think I've ever accidentally (just intentionally) walked on forbidden trails.
Wise men who know about horseshoes and such know that one pointing up is holding in good luck but when it's upside down all the luck runs out. I think it might be a message from the bosses at the copper mine.
This works for me:
I used to hate weddings. All the old dears would poke me and say, “you’re next.”
They soon stopped when I started saying the same to them at funerals.
