Prodigal Summer

Thanks to hard work by our friends and neighbours, our plants are actually looking better than when we left.

Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver is what I've been reading after I finished Hotel du Lac by Anita Brookner, just staying quiet in the hammock and trying to survive the 41°C heat without even a fan. Still not much luck on the batteries, so we're off early to Lisbon tomorrow with the inverter, to see what can be done...

Everything is SO dry, read this Blip, a marvelous ode to rain, and realize how awful a lack of rain is.

Gratefuls:
- Prodigal Summer, what an amazing read, moving, true, and you learn so much about nature, and guilt-free time to read, as nothing else I could do
- going out for dinner at C and E's, we've hardly eaten all day
- that, at 20h, it's beginning to cool, only 39° now...
