SOMEWHERE WE WILL BE AVOIDING!

When we were out last Saturday, Mr. HCB had an unfortunate incident with one of our folding chairs - I am so glad it wasn’t me who was sitting in it when the whole arm of the chair buckled and almost tipped him out of his seat.  Only his quick thinking stopped him ending up on the ground.  

I am one of those people who keeps receipts back to the year “dot” so I found the receipt for two chairs that we had purchased at the end of July 2018 from Mountain Warehouse, so we decided to take them both back to the outlet at Lechlade Garden Centre.  We had a little tussle with the Manager, but Mr. HCB stood his ground and he eventually agreed to exchange them both - so we chose two different chairs and felt it had been a good result.

On the way back we decided to come via Fairford rather than going through Lechlade, as there had been quite a few hold-ups on the way over.  We passed the airfield where there were lots of marquees being put up and Mr. HCB slowed down almost to a stop so that I could take a photograph - this one shows Crash Gate 7 - and we were quickly on our way before I got arrested!

It will be heaving all round here on the weekend of 19/20/21 July, when the Royal International Air Tattoo takes place on the airfield, so definitely an area to avoid.  Mr. HCB needs to pass by on the main dual carriageway on his way to Cheltenham to watch cricket, but he said it shouldn’t be a problem as they won’t be leaving until the afternoon.  We did say to each other that it must be very difficult living near the airfield on this particular weekend, especially as some roads will be “one way only” for the whole weekend.  I think I would either go away or just stock up with food and drink and stay at home!

You might be interested to know that “The Royal International Air Tattoo is the world's largest military air show, held annually over the third weekend in July, at RAF Fairford in support of The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust. Many of those attending will have to be very patient, especially in the long traffic jams and these words may not be enough!
