Wellies To Go
So be it that 2012, the wettest year since records began, is swept out on a river of rain, while we choose to spend our 'last supper' of the old year with Mr&Mrs Poppy from Orkney, come down to the Hogmanay Capital to sing, not for their supper, but with the Edinburgh Choral Union and their rendition of the Messiah in the Usher Hall on the 2nd Januaury.
The preparations have been made and we look forward to an evening of chat and laughter with our favourite postie and his blipping wife, provided they survive unscathed the must do revolutions of the Ferris wheel in Princes Street Gardens and the crowds of the German Market.
Let us hope that 2013 is a drier, sunnier, more peaceful and an economically better place than it's forebear.
This Billy Connolly song is running round my brain neurones today:-
If it wisnae for yer wellies, where wid ye be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmaree
Cause you'd have a dose ae the flu or even pleurisee
If ye didnae have yer feet in yer wellies.
SLAINTHE MHATH agus BLIADHNA MHATH ÙR!
