Bloody Sunday
WEDNESDAY
A drive over to Ballymena and a train to Derry. The rail journey between Coleraine and Derry is a must - it has been described by Michael Palin as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world”.
After lunch at the splendid Warehouse No 1 Bistro in Derry we had a pleasant walk round the city walls deviating to view the Bogside Murals and the city centre shops.
The main blip is the Bloody Sunday Mural in the Republican Bogside area.
The extra, taken about half a mile away from the city walls, shows the Unionists preparing their bonfire which will be lit on the eve of the twelfth (Battle of the Boyne) celebrations.
Still a divided city.
