Copper

A lovely walk for Team IttH, a favourite place, beautiful La Balme.
Early in the season there were only à few people walking the route of the Tour du Mont Blanc, and the woods offered a little shade. Later we cooled our feet in the glacially fed river, betwixt it was wall to wall sunshine.

Once we'd reached the meadows I knew today's blip would be a butterfly or a flower, colour bloomed and fluttered everywhere. I just didn't know which...

And to a certain extent I still don't. The main blip is either a Large Copper or a Scarce Copper, without seeing his underside its impossible to tell for sure. Either way a great sight. The Large has been extinct in the UK since 1851,and the scarce has probably never been present, its a source of debate.
The extra is also a first for me, the Round Headed Orchid, which I think, doesn't occur in the UK, I've certainly not seen it, but I have a couple of followers I'm sure will know.
