An old friend flowers

I've forgotten the name of this shrub which is in a pot on the lower patio. I thought it had died this last winter and had rather neglected it, and certainly didn't prune back its old woody stems. But s so oftens happens neglect brings out the best in plants rather than too much care a`nd attention.

I was chasing insects round and round  the patio and in despair I took a few shots of the very vivid flowers. Now I've looked at them in closer detail I think this stem of flowers deserves a place in my Blip journal once again.
