Höllgasse
Passau really is an astonishingly lovely little city - in fact, it claims (courtesy of its tourist office) to be the most photogenic city in Germany. Who knows? Some of the places on the Romantische Straße might give it a run for its money.
Anyway, Höllgasse, which runs just behind our hotel, is a lovely street, regularly suffering from the depredations of the floods. All the buildings date from the middle ages, and have been damaged by fire as well as flood. They were also badly neglected up to the 1970s, when they were modernised by the local authority, and after that a lot of artists moved in. Hence most of the shops are small workshops and galleries, and it is much frequented by tour groups.
After breakfast with C and K, we said our (sad) goodbyes. We are heading home, but they have a few more days and are heading off to Regensburg. We followed their lead of yesterday, and headed up to the Veste Oberhaus. We didn't go inside, but got some great photos of the amazing views. I've added an extra, as well as some creepy crawlies for my sister as she might find them interesting.
Afterwards, we had pizza for lunch and then slowly headed towards the train. We are now in Munich airport, taking advantage of the free wifi, and hoping that our flight behaves itself today....
