Breakfast with the Birds

I went to the waterfront in Washington, DC this morning but it was too cold and windy for photography. On the way home, I stopped for a cup of coffee and a chocolate eclair.

While I was eating (in the car), a bird landed on my hood. I rolled down my window and placed a piece on the side mirror. The bird happily jumped from the hood to the mirror, took the treat and flew off. When I went to put the second piece of doughnut on the mirror, another bird came and snatched it right from my fingers. I figured this was too good not to pass up, so I powered up the camera, tilted my seat back so I could put a little distance between me and the mirror, and then placed the third piece of doughnut on the mirror. Within seconds, I was able to capture this...

After my breakfast with the birds, I went home and finished installing trim in the sunroom, caulked, and painted. I think for once, I am looking forward to going to work tomorrow - It will be a nice break from all of the manual labor that I have done over Christmas and this weekend.
