Folk at the Hall (Day 1)
It’s been 2 years since I last attended Folk at the Hall in Trelawnyd, North Wales. Last year it was just a couple of weeks before my hip surgery and I was in no fit state to drive, or to sleep in a tent. This year, I’m back in working order so it was fun to venture across the border and meet up with Mel, Donna and Corinne for a couple of days of quality music.
This bijou festival, based in a village hall (capacity approx 150), is run by Kelda Manley with the assistance of her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc, who not only do all the home-cooked catering for punters and performers but also provide a free taxi service between the campsite and the hall, and generally welcome everyone into the family for the weekend.
Tonight, we were treated to excellent performances by Ryan Young and Jenn Butterworth (https://youtube.com/watch?v=sMRsp2VKWE8), Heisk (‘Virr’ https://youtube.com/watch?v=1EgGCfrFNik) and Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys - featuring one of my favourite folk musicians, and today’s Blip subject, accordion maestro Archie Churchill-Moss (also a member of Moore Moss Rutter and False Lights). Here they are with ‘Chasing Shadows’ https://youtube.com/watch?v=xgJKIY0YH4g
More photos of him and some of the other performers in Extras.
Thanks to all involved “and special thanks to Derren and Darren on Sound!”
