Linlithgow Palace

Another day of driech weather, but it didn't stop us heading out to West Lothian. We found ourselves at Linlithgow Palace where the remnants of the recent Chanel fashion show were still in evidence. The guardians of the property (Historic Scotland) had allowed a wooden cloister to be built in the central courtyard. Having been a long time repeat visitor to the Palace, I felt there was a dramatic difference with this addition. Sometimes with these historical ruins that are just shells of buildings, it is difficult to perceive reality.
"Wouldn't they get cold feet on this floor Daddy?" said the lad when we walked through the Royal bed chamber.
"Why isn't there any glass in these windows?"
"It's really dark on this staircase" etc etc

So this wooden cloister definitely helped our imagination. Its a shame it will not be there permanently.
