THE PICNIC DAY
And it was very hot. Stogumber Station on the West Somerset railway is a beautiful peaceful place but as it's angled towards the sun has no shade.
We enjoyed the fizz, quiche and salad and the woofs were fascinated by the engines. I tried several times to get a good capture of them but sadly they all came in backwards so all we saw was the coal section first. Not so impressive.
The gardens looked lovely and tidy and Annie who took over from me tries really hard to keep up with the weeding. The rabbits are still eating all the new plants so no change there.
Oscar had never seen a snorting thundering steam engine before but Phoebe of course was a puppy when I used to work at the station and wasn't phased at all.
Sadly the day was over too soon and we had to return Matthew back to his care home. But fortunately they were having a bbq so he leapt off to get a cider and burger!!
Another hot day today so we will be watering again this evening. We're enjoying the raspberries every day and the runner beans are full of flowers.
Enjoy the good weather folks. I expect it will rain all of August!! xxxxx
