B and Dave-next-door fixing the problem which was probably going to cost us nearly a grand if we'd asked Nissan to do it. The little plastic clip thing was available separately from the £700 assembly they supply and cost us just over a fiver via eBay and it took the pair of them about ten minutes (well, Dave really, because B can't see well enough any more and just supplied tools and "advice"). All seems well so far, but I'll make sure I've got the number of the recovery people when we head off on our travels next week... just in case.
Extra is a tiny moth that was on the front door. According to the book it's a Small Dusty Wave (Idaea seriata), so it would have felt at home on my dusty front door.
