Congratulations Frances!

I have known for a long time that today I would be proudly blipping a photograph of Frances - no longer a PhD student, but now a PhD graduate.

Frances' journey to PhD is quite remarkable, and for that reason - as well as her decorated thesis shoes - she was a big draw for the press photographers after this morning's graduation ceremony. Her story is already online on the Edinburgh Evening News web site, so do take a look (but keep a hanky handy!)

After the ceremony I joined Frances and her friends for a celebratory lunch in Contini on George Street. It's been a very happy day.

Exercise today: small amount of walking.
