10am visit
Someone came by to brighten my day at 10am! Yeah baby!!
Slept upstairs in the bed last night. It was okay but getting the pillow situation straight will take a couple of nights. This morning I actually took a bath in the tub! The process was sit on the side of the tub, get in the tub, rest my plastic covered leg on a small square plastic garbage can we had( worked great) turn on the water and adjust, slide down and relax. Hot water felt really good and my good foot got a much needed soak and mini-pedicure. I am getting some calluses where there used to be none! Jerry helped with the hairwashing..good thing I have short hair and a big cup for rinsing. He said he is going to see about getting one of those hand held showerheads next time he goes to the hardware store. ??? Why! I can always wash my hair in the kitchen sink standing up. There are ways! Anyway, it was a much better experience than the shower.
A quiet 4th of July for us. Pork ribs on the grill, potato salad and fresh corn on the cob. It is supposed to be really hot again but a better chance of rain. Hope we get the rain!
A year ago today, my daughter in law Emily and her friend Leah had a terrible firework experience while they were in a park watching a group of neighbors shoot of some fireworks. Emily had minor burns on her arm and her hearing was affected for a while. The firework hit Leah on her leg and she had to be transported to the burn center and endured 13 surgeries over the next couple of months. She is doing well now but the trauma will always be with them all. Emily is much better but loud noises give her a bad feeling as well as my son also since he was standing behind the girls with Leah's husband and small son! Thankful there was a doctor watching the event also. The police seem to think a sorry excuse for a human actually set off that firework and then ran. Brett and Emily, Leah and John and their son Connor are going to the mountains of North Carolina today to be away from the fireworks that happen in Columbia. North Carolina has a ban on fireworks so the amount if any that they hear will be minor. Hoping they make new memories that are good.
Be safe everyone!
