Deception

A cake with hidden depth masquerading as being on the level, as you might say. I’m hoping the additional sweetners of strawberries and skyr will mask the baker’s shortcomings or at least divert attention from them when my book group sample it tonight. It’s such a pity that I don‘t have X-ray eyes to know what lurks under its surface, the better to warn them.

As for the book, the Seal Woman’s Gift by Sally Magnusson, I read it 4 pages at a time in bed with the book falling out of my hands as tiredness took its hold, so I am in no fit state to offer a critique on it although I can say I like it even though the characters’ unpronounceable Icelandic names and the place names were hard to remember far less pronounce in my head.
