Caley and Bruce at Achaderry

A grim faced Scottish comedian used to say, "I have a long nose. Long noses run in our family"

Nothing to do with genetic length they are certainly running in our house today. This horrid cold was of sufficient nastiness to make M abstain from the normal dog walk. A bit of fresh air is normally a wee tonic in such circumstances but a glance out of a window in any direction revealed blustery columns of rain sweeping along the Glen Spean valley and even mid morning did not offer any proper day light. I was left on my own with the chore.
Bruce and Caley do not see the walk as a chore. It is the highlight of their day, seconded by dinner time. The longer, the more varied the better and rain, gales, sleet or snow do not detract from this quality time. It was wet alright yet both dogs managed refreshing swims and we continued up to Machine Gun Hill. This is normally a fine view point but if you could "thole" to turn your head upwards there was nothing to see but more rain marching past.

At the time of the walk I had the prospect in my mind of a lengthy drive, a round trip to Tarbert, but I was hugely relieved that another family member has taken over this responsibility.

Time for another Lemsip.

Thank goodness we are on holiday just now or I would have had to have taken a day off work.

On the lower slope of MG Hill there lies this strangely contorted tree and here is Caley and camera shy Bruce having a wee sniff around it.
