First flower open today.

A busy one.  Housework and admin morning then a long afternoon weeding on the allotment which looks a lot tidier now.   Some repotting in the greenhouse tonight including two cucumber plants gifted me by my mum.  I've never tried growing them before but am not the only one in the family with green fingers, mum had a glut of very healthy plants when we called in the other day.

A big distraction has been the plight of our nesting blackbirds today.  The nest seems to have 'come loose', tipping two unfortunate fledglings out.  Too small to fly, I rescued one and returned it to the nest after using a length of fabric to hold the nest up ..... but it was soon on the  ground again.  The parents have continued to feed the stray and the two in the nest but Timmy cat is very put out about being kept in!
