Of late, my daily walk takes me between the villages of Wistow and Newton Harcourt and I’ve been watching this new build rise, quite literally, from smouldering ashes.

Billed as an Eco Grand Design it towers over the surrounding landscape.

Grand it may well be, eco it isn’t.

Most of the ancient woodland has been ripped up, trees included and replaced with cypress trees!. The ancient hedgerow (see opposite side of road in the extra)  has also been ripped up and replaced with Laurel, many of which have since died.

Why not just put up a 6ft plastic fence?

Eco, my backside!
