Lottie & Poppy
I’ve been struggling to get photos to upload to blip since we arrived on Orkney on Saturday and thought I’d have to backblip when we got home, but somehow this one has got through:-). I may try again with the missing days.
We met up with the lovely Poppy and Mike at the Fossil & Heritage Centre for coffee and a chat and were also introduced to blipper Northern. It was great to meet them all, but the real bonus came when we were introduced to the adorable Lottie who had been waiting patiently in the car:-).
After we’d parted company, we drove on to Saint Margaret’s Hope and popped in to the craft shop where Poppy works. It was so tempting to buy her beautiful knitted hat, but I don’t suit hats.so bought a lovely piece of curved glass instead. What a treasure trove it is and I could happily have bought one of everything:-)
We continued down to the end of North Ronaldsay in very dubious weather (rain, wind, mist and rare bursts of sunshine) and stopped at the Tomb of the Eagles. However when we discovered the only way to view it was by a mile long walk out in the open, we chickened out. Instead, we had a delicious late lunch at Skerries Bistro and then drove back across the Churchill Barriers to our base at Orphir, overlooking Scapa Flow. Not that we’ve seen much of it due to the afore -mentioned mist!
Hope to see more if the weather ever clears. Rather galling to read about the lovely weather further south:-)
